Permanent residence pathways for Hong Kong residents Pilot until August 31, 2026

Under this pilot for Hong Kong residents, there are two streams:
Stream A: In-Canada graduates and Stream B: Canadian work experience

Eligibility Under Stream A : In-Canada graduates

  1. The applicant should have a valid passport issued by one of the following:
    Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China
    United Kingdom to a British National (Overseas) as a person born, naturalized, or registered in Hong Kong
  2. Applicant should be inside Canada with valid status.
  3. Applicant should have a level 5 score in all 4 skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in English or French
  4. have graduated from a post-secondary designated learning institution in Canada within 3 years before you apply with minimum two years diploma or Post graduation Diploma study or a degree (associate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral) or a graduate or post-graduate diploma or certificate for a program of at least 1 year.

Eligibility Under Stream B: Canadian work experience

  1. Applicant should have a valid passport issued by one of the following:
    Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China
    United Kingdom to a British National (Overseas) as a person born, naturalized, or registered in Hong Kong
  2. Applicant should be inside Canada with valid status.
  3. Applicant should have a level 5 score in all 4 skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in English or French
  4. have worked in Canada for at least 12 months full-time, or an equal amount of part-time hours in the 3 years before you apply.

3,737 People Are Invited to Apply for Canada’s New Working Holiday Visa Draw

During the week of February 24, 2024, International Experience Canada (IEC) 2024 distributed 3,737 invitations for open work permits as part of the new Working Holiday Visa invitation rounds.

For the IEC 2024 season, there are still 35,974 open work permit seats under the Working Holiday Visa category, although there are only 29,739 applicants total from more than 35 qualifying nations.

Only 53 closed work permit invites have been sent under the International Co-op category, out of 251 invites under the Young Professionals category.

The IEC 2024 season processing time has now improved to two weeks, per the latest IRCC processing time report.

The invitations received this week, breaking down by country and category, the total number of invites sent in 2024, the number of candidates in the pool, the number of open spots, and the probability of receiving an invitation the following week are all displayed in the tables below.

150 invitations for PR in the express entry draw for the Agriculture and Agri-Food Occupations category.

In another occupation-based Express Entry draw, Canada has issued 150 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the area of agriculture and agri-food occupations.

The occupational draw on February 14, 2024, had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 422 points; by comparison, the draw on February 16 had a minimum CRS score of 437 points, which was 15 points higher.

In the past, 3,500 invitations to apply (ITAs) in a healthcare-focused round of invitations were distributed by an Express Entry draw on February 15. 422 was the CRS cutoff score.

Additionally, on February 13, 1,490 fortunate people were selected in a general draw to receive invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residency (PR).

Similar to previous draws, the general draw was performed using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), requiring a minimum score of 535 or above.

3,500 PR Invitations to Apply for Healthcare Jobs Are Issued by Canada

Amidst the newest improvements in the Express Entry system, the Canadian immigration landscape is in a state of flux.

Today, the Immigration and Refugee Council (IRCC) issued 3,500 invitations to apply (ITAs) in a healthcare jobs focused round of invitations for the second Express Entry draw of the week.

3,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) under the Healthcare occupations category were issued by Canada in its first occupations-based Express Entry draw of the year on February 14, 2023.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for that draw was 422 points, which is 9 points less than the minimum score for the previous healthcare occupations draw, which took place on October 26, 2023, which was 431 points.

In the all-program category, Canada issued 1,490 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the second Express Entry draw of the year on February 13, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 535 points.

which is 6 points less than in the previous all-program draw, which took place on January 31, 2024, and had a minimum CRS score of 541 points.

This was the fifth invitation round for Express Entry in 2024 and the 283rd altogether.

Applicants have 60 days to submit their applications, and they will be reviewed in the customary six months.
