IRCC held the second Express Entry draw of 2025 for PNP candidates.

The Express Entry Draw candidates have received additional invitations to apply (ITAs) from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The department provided 455 ITAs to candidates in a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw.

To be accepted, candidates had to submit an Express Entry candidate profile by 7:39 p.m. Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) on December 7, 2024, and have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 802.

Following two Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws and a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw earlier this month, today’s draw marks the fourth of the year.

In 2025, the IRCC has so far granted 6,276 ITAs under the Express Entry method.

The immigration administration has decided to prioritize applicants who meet the requirements for PNP, CEC, and category-based selection draws for ITAs since July 2024. This is consistent with the IRCC’s annual Immigration Levels Plan, which gives admissions to applicants who are already in Canada and who possess the professional and linguistic abilities necessary to satisfy the nation’s demographic and economic objectives through the federal immigration system.

The following are Canada’s Express Entry priority categories for 2025:
1. Healthcare
2. Exchanges
3. Proficiency in French.

Canada Immigration Minister Marc Miller Has Announced 3 New Changes In Immigration.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Minister Marc Miller announced major changes to Canada’s immigration system on December 17, 2024.

Additionally, as we wrote in November 2024, Marc Miller somewhat verified that the Express Entry system no longer uses LMIA-based job offer points.

1. Closing “Flagpoling” to Simplify Border Operations:

Miller claims that flagpoling wastes precious border resources, obstructs vital enforcement operations, and interferes with cross-border travel.
In order to alleviate needless stress on border officials and guarantee efficient resource allocation, temporary residents will now have to apply online to extend their stay in Canada.

2. Strengthening Control Over Immigration Documents:

Under these amendments, the IRCC would have more power to suspend, cancel, or alter immigration documents—like visas—in the event of fraud or security threats.
Suspend or stop accepting applications in situations deemed to be in the public interest, such as large-scale fraud attempts.
By implementing these policies, Canada hopes to better protect its resources and keep those who could be dangerous out of the nation.

3. Addressing LMIA Fraud and Express Entry Integrity:

In order to prevent fraud and guarantee equity, the government is also implementing changes to the Express Entry system, which will strengthen the veracity of our news report from November 22, 2024.
The removal of extra points for job offers under Express Entry will specifically lessen the motivation for people to take advantage of the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) procedure.

It is anticipated that this modification will:

1. Reduce the abuse of employment offers for immigration purposes.
2. Make the Express Entry system more honest and equitable.
