A new policy in Manitoba to assist skilled temporary workers.

Regional economic immigration policies enhance Canada’s cultural diversity and enrichment while promoting the nation’s steady economic growth and stability.

Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has approved Manitoba’s request to extend temporary resident status for potential nominees identified under the province’s Provincial Nominee Program who have work permits that expire in 2024, according to a statement made today by the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship. The majority of these people are post-graduation work permit holders who are presently in the Expression of Interest pool for the Manitoba Skilled Worker Provincial Nominee Program. These qualified candidates are actively bolstering Manitoba’s economy and fostering the province’s rich cultural diversity by taking up important job openings.

With the help of this temporary measure, 6,700 temporary workers who were recognized by Manitoba and supported will be able to continue working while their applications for the Provincial Nominee Program are being processed by the province. It is anticipated that qualified foreign nationals will get an official nomination from Manitoba in less than two years and finally be granted permanent residency.
